Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - 2 years of nursing experience in a progressive care setting - Experience with conscious sedation, ventilators, and telemetry - Epic charting experience required Description: This position is for a registered nurse in the progressive care unit. The role requires working three nights per week, with shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The estimated patient ratio is 1:3. Candidates must float within units of equivalent or lower levels of acuity. The following skills are required: - Management of BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, and central lines - Care for patients experiencing cerebral vascular accidents - Knowledge of heparin protocols and high-flow nasal cannula management - Interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips - Experience in post-myocardial infarction care and insulin drip titration The unit operates with high acuity and a fast pace. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. Daily census is approximately 18 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, COVID-19, strokes, liver failure, and renal failure. Special equipment is available for lift assistance.
