Our organization is on the lookout for an Advanced Endoscopy Gastroenterologist to join our well-established and expanding academic gastroenterology program in Philadelphia.
This is a remarkable chance for an advanced endoscopist eager to integrate specialized clinical care, a high volume of technically demanding procedures, AEF training, medical education, and research within a prestigious academic health system.
We are particularly interested in candidates with robust clinical and technical skills in Third-Space Endoscopy to support our ongoing growth.

A Program Focused on Clinical Excellence, Education, and Innovation

Since 2001, our Advanced Endoscopy program has been training advanced endoscopists, having successfully graduated 27 fellows.

This includes expertise in:

• Third-Space Endoscopy

• POEM, Z-POEM, and G-POEM

• Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD)

• EFTR and STER

• Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR)

• ERCP

• Cholangioscopy

• EUS

• EUS-guided pancreatic cyst and PNET ablation

• Deep enteroscopy

• Enteral stenting

• Advanced polyp resection

• Barrett’s esophagus ablation

• Endohepatology

• Endoscopic Vacuum Assisted Closure (EVAC)

Third-Space Endoscopy is a Central Focus of This Role.

We are in search of an advanced endoscopist with proven clinical and technical proficiency in third-space endoscopy.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:

• Conduct intricate third-space procedures

• Assess patients referred for advanced endoscopic and specifically third-space consultations

• Enhance the development of our Third-Space Endoscopy program

• Instruct fellows and trainees in advanced therapeutic techniques

• Engage in clinical research and scholarly activities

• Collaborate with gastroenterologists, surgeons, and other specialists

• Drive innovation in therapeutic endoscopy

Clinical & Academic Faculty Role

• This position merges a vigorous clinical practice with significant academic duties.

Clinical responsibilities may encompass:

• Advanced therapeutic endoscopy

• EUS and ERCP

• Third-Space Endoscopy

• POEM/G-POEM

• EMR/ESD

• Multidisciplinary management of complex inpatient and outpatient cases in advanced endoscopy, TSE, and pancreaticobiliary patients

• Establishment of a specialized advanced endoscopy practice

Academic responsibilities may include:

• Educating gastroenterology fellows

• Instructing advanced endoscopy fellows

• Medical student and resident training

• Conducting clinical research

• Publishing in peer-reviewed journals

• Presenting at national and regional conferences

• Participating in advanced endoscopy conferences

• Developing curricula

• Providing procedural education

• Mentoring fellows and trainees

• Fostering innovation in therapeutic endoscopy

• Taking on administrative and leadership roles

The program is part of our Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, led by an experienced Chief with over three decades of clinical, academic, and research expertise. This leadership fosters a collaborative environment across the division.

The Advanced Endoscopy Program is supported by a skilled faculty team, including directors of gastrointestinal endoscopy and the pancreaticobiliary & advanced endoscopy section.

• Clinical and endoscopic research

Additionally, we maintain an Endoscopic Research Group focused on developing and evaluating research initiatives.

• M.D. or D.O. degree

• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology fellowship

• Fellowship training in Advanced Endoscopy

• Board Certification or Eligibility in Gastroenterology

• Proven proficiency in advanced endoscopic procedures

• Extensive clinical and technical experience in Third-Space Endoscopy

• Expertise in POEM, G-POEM, ESD, and EMR

• Significant experience with EUS and ERCP

• A commitment to medical education

• An interest in clinical research and scholarly activities

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Eligibility for medical licensure in Pennsylvania
