Job Title: Quality Technician Job Code: 42689 Job Location: South Salt Lake, Utah Job Schedule: 9/80 Standard 1st shift Job Description: Seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused Quality Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting quality operations in a fast-paced production environment by helping to identify, contain, document, and drive resolution of product and process quality issues. Routinely interfaces with production operators, and factory support personnel. Assists in evaluating defect data to identify trends and collaborates with quality engineers to make recommendations on process improvements. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work effectively with production operators and cross-functional teams Essential Functions: Perform inspections on materials and components per drawings, specifications, and inspection plans. Conduct in-process inspections and first article inspections (FAI) to verify product conformity. Identify, segregate, and control nonconforming material. Support internal and external audits as needed. Communicate quality issues and findings clearly to cross-functional teams. Assist in the containment, documentation, and root cause analysis of defective material in a production environment Provide baseline quality data to support daily and weekly yield reviews Perform first-level triage of quality issues and maintain positive working relationships with production operators and cross-functional support teams Collaborate with Quality Engineers and Operations to manage daily priorities. Perform duties in compliance with documented procedures Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to resolve measurement-related issues and improve inspection processes. Analyze measurement data, generate detailed inspection reports, and recommend corrective actions for non-conforming parts. Develop and maintain inspection documentation, including program files, setup sheets, and calibration records. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of quality control processes. Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining the required security clearance. Experience with GD&T interpretation and inspection methods Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years prior quality experience, or 2-year. or post-secondary/AA Degree and 1-year prior quality experience Ability to obtain U.S. Secret Security Clearance which requires US Citizenship Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Experience using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams Basic computer skills and experience with electronic record systems. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 32 lbs. as required. Ability to perform detailed visual inspections Preferred Additional Skills: Understanding statistical data analysis techniques Knowledge of quality control standards and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) Familiarity with ISO9001, AS9100 quality system Ability to train others in quality control processes and procedures Understanding of IPC standards, prior IPC-610 Solder Inspection certification #LI-BR2 L3Harris Technologies is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
