Paralegal - Storm Damage Property Insurance Litigation

An Austin, Texas law firm is seeking an experienced paralegal to support its storm damage property insurance litigation practice. This position works directly with the firm's attorneys to move first-party insurance claims from intake through pre-suit notice, litigation, appraisal, mediation, and resolution. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a high volume of active files with firm deadlines. Responsibilities Review insurance policies, declarations pages, endorsements, and claim correspondence to identify coverage issues and key dates. Organize and analyze claim files, including adjuster estimates, denial letters, photographs, engineering reports, and weather data. Prepare Chapter 542A pre-suit notice letters for attorney review, and track the 61-day notice period. Track Texas Prompt Payment of Claims Act deadlines and other statutory and court deadlines. Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and other litigation documents for attorney review. Coordinate with public adjusters, contractors, engineers, appraisers, and other expert witnesses. Prepare damages summaries and supporting documentation for demands, appraisal, and mediation. Maintain regular, clear communication with clients about the status of their claims. Manage case files and calendars in the firm's case management system. Assist with intake screening of new storm damage claims. Qualifications Paralegal experience required; litigation experience strongly preferred. Experience with first-party property insurance claims, storm damage claims, or insurance defense preferred. Familiarity with Texas Insurance Code Chapters 541, 542, and 542A preferred. Working knowledge of Xactimate estimates, homeowners and commercial property policies, and the appraisal process is a plus. Paralegal certificate, degree, or Texas Board of Legal Specialization certification preferred. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines across a large caseload. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management software. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
