Certifications & Licenses

• At least five (5) years experience in Linux System Administration and/or High Performance Computing (HPC).
• Experience in one or more scripting languages: LDAP, MPI, Virtualization and Containers, Batch queuing systems such as Slurm - Red Hat Certification

Statement of Work Details

Designs and implements software and hardware systems to support scientific research.

• Apply the techniques of parallel computing to computationally intensive tasks that are encountered in biomedical applications.
• Install and/or troubleshoot Linux operating system; hardware including desktops and servers 1
• Maintain the LoBoS cluster as well as physical cluster spaces 2

Evaluates experiment and testing strategies and identify new approaches, methods, and systems.

• Research existing and new technologies used in medicine and scientific research to evaluate how it might be optimized and expoundedupon through better technology and applications.
• Investigate the suitability of specific methods, algorithms, and software approaches to clinical experiments and testing.
• Research and evaluate software standards in the area of operating systems, graphics, genome informatics and file systems, and assesstheir relevance to putting.
• Perform patching of systems to address known vulnerabilities.
• Provide user support including installation on desktops as well as cluster-wide.

Monitors and evaluates computer information systems and application performance.

• Conduct theoretical and experimental studies of integrated computerized information systems.
• Analyze system performance data to identify areas in need of change or improvement.
• Troubleshoot problems involving technical issues related to design, development, and administration of critical applications.
• Provision and monitor network storage systems.
• Assist in technology tracking for the purposes of upgrading the LoBoS cluster to continue to support scientific workflows needed bythe Lab.
• Monitor system security and identify anomalies to be researched/addressed. 3

Provides subject matter expertise to senior scientists and program executives.

• Maintain deep understanding of computer science theories and the latest trends and developments in computational and informationsciences.
• Provide input into software and hardware investment planning based on deep understanding of clinical necessities.
• Search scientific literature to select and modify computational methods and procedures.
• Work with NIH staff in maintaining LoBoS's Authority to Operate (ATO).
• Assist in managing the given budget for the maintenance and upgrading of LoBoS.

Develops advanced approaches to artificial intelligence and machine learning to support scientific research.

• Develop advanced machine learning algorithms to support scientific research and medical research and business process improvement.
• Research and implement novel machine learning and statistical approaches.
• Design, develop and deploy appliation programming interfaces (API) to optimize system interoperability and increase data reuseefficiency.
