Basic Function/Definition Provide short-term counseling for students who are struggling with issues such as stress, anxiety, anger, depression, grief, healing from trauma, building healthy relationships, understanding gender and sexuality, and managing life transitions, utilizing the knowledge and application of principles, theories, methods, and practices of psychological interventions, personality development, psychopathology, learning, and behavior. The duties below are representative of the position and not intended to cover all of the duties performed. All assignments and work schedules can include day and evening hours, as assigned by the Director of Student Health & Psychological Services. o Provides short-term personal counseling and advisement to students; offers individual and group counseling sessions o Assesses the psychological needs of students and develops an appropriate plan of intervention o Provides solution focused psychological services to students; assists students with problem resolution, stress reduction, and communication skills o Provides crisis intervention services to students and consults with faculty and staff as needed o Develops and maintains confidential patient records in accordance with applicable standards of practice and federal and state laws and regulations o Functions as a professional liaison between Rio Hondo Community College District and other community health services; facilitates transition from short-term counseling at assigned college to longer-term psychological services; coordinates with community crisis intervention agencies and services, as needed o Collaborates with staff of the Student Health Center in the delivery of programs and services; collects and analyzes data for reporting purposes; participates in the Program Review process; assesses Student Learning Outcomes and implements program improvements o Educates students and staff on the maintenance of psychological health and the minimization of emotional stress; may advise faculty and staff on best practices for supporting students with psychological issues o Attends relevant meetings on campus and in the community; may represent the college at local and regional meetings related to mental health o Adherences to legal mandates and regulations regarding the provisions of therapy and/or the practice of psychology. Minimum Qualifications Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development; Bachelor’s in any of the above and a license as a Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor; A current California license or registration as a Marriage & Family Therapist ( MFT ), Licensed Clinical Social Worker ( LCSW ), Clinical Psychologist or a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor ( LPCC ) Demonstrate a sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Responsibilities Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts. License Certificates/Credentials Desired Qualifications License: Current California licensure as a Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or similar

• Experience: At least 2 years recent clinical experience with individuals and groups
• Education: Doctorate (Ph.D or PsyD) in clinical or counseling psychology
• Demonstrated effectiveness in providing crisis intervention
