Experienced Clinical Nurse - Head & Neck/Breast Surgery Inpatient Unit

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Clinical Nurse to join the Head & Neck/Plastics Reconstruction inpatient unit. The Clinical Nurse plays a vital role in delivering specialized care to patients with complex needs, including airway management, microvascular flap monitoring, and advanced wound care. Responsibilities Patient Care Delivery Manage and provide comprehensive patient care within the assigned inpatient unit Assess patient needs and coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team Collaborate with physicians, services, patients, and families to plan and evaluate care Deliver safe, compassionate care including medication administration and procedures Respond effectively to emergencies and complex clinical situations Clinical Practice & Quality Improvement Integrate research findings and theoretical knowledge into clinical practice Participate in data collection efforts for current clinical studies Demonstrate clinical competency in specialized areas such as airway management and wound care Documentation & Systems Use Document patient care in accordance with established standards Access, input, and retrieve patient information using computer systems Care Coordination & Advocacy Ensure continuity of care through discharge planning and patient education Coordinate services to support transitions of care Advocate for patient and family rights and needs Team Support & Development Train, coach, and assist team members to support optimal patient care Promote efficient use of resources and collaborative team performance

EDUCATION

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Nursing. Work Experience Required: None Preferred: Two years experience in a hospital setting working in oncology

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
