Bolder Industries is ISO 9001 certified and holds a Silver EcoVadis rating.Location: Terre Haute, IN Type: Full-TimeThe Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and process instrumentation to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role supports production by minimizing downtime and ensuring equipment operates within design specifications, particularly in high-hazard industrial environments such as oil & gas and chemical processing facilities.Key ResponsibilitiesInstrumentationInstall, calibrate, and maintain process instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analyzers)Troubleshoot and repair control systems, transmitters, control valves, and field devicesPerform loop checks, functional testing, and instrument verificationMaintain and update calibration records and documentationSupport PLC/DCS systems and field instrumentation integrationElectricalInstall, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems (motors, MCCs, VFDs, power distribution)Diagnose and repair electrical faults in industrial equipmentRead and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagramsPerform preventative maintenance on electrical systemsSupport new equipment installations and commissioningMaintenance & ReliabilityExecute preventive and predictive maintenance programsParticipate in root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiativesAssist in troubleshooting complex process upsets in continuous operationsMaintain spare parts and inventory for critical instrumentation and electrical componentsSafety & ComplianceFollow all safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirementsEnsure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, ISA)Work safely in hazardous (classified) environments (Class I, Div 1/2)Participate in process safety programs (e.g., MOC, PHA, HAZOP support)Maintain a clean and organized work environmentQualificationsEducation & ExperienceAssociate degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or related field (preferred)3–7+ years of industrial maintenance experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or chemical manufacturing environments strongly preferredExperience supporting continuous process operations with critical uptime requirementsExperience with PLC systems such as Allen-Bradley PLC or Siemens PLC preferredIndustry-Specific Experience (Oil & Gas / Chemicals)Hands-on experience with process instrumentation in hydrocarbon or chemical serviceFamiliarity with hazardous area classifications, intrinsically safe systems, and explosion-proof equipmentExperience maintaining and troubleshooting: Control valves and positionersGas analyzers and detection systemsFlow measurement devices (Coriolis, ultrasonic, DP)Pressure and temperature transmitters in critical serviceExposure to distributed control systems (DCS) used in refining or chemical plantsUnderstanding of process safety management (PSM) environmentsExperience working around: High-pressure systemsFlammable/combustible materialsCorrosive chemicalsTechnical SkillsStrong understanding of electrical systems (low and medium voltage)Knowledge of instrumentation calibration and control systemsAbility to use diagnostic tools (multimeters, loop calibrators, meggers)Familiarity with SCADA/DCS systemsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and documentationSoft SkillsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilityAttention to detail and accuracyBeneficial Experience but not requiredStartup and commissioning experience in new plant buildsExperience in refining, midstream, upstream, or specialty chemical productionKnowledge of SIL-rated systems and safety instrumented systems (SIS)We offer a competitive benefits package designed to support your personal and professional growth:Career Growth: Training and development programsEmployee Recognition: Real-time appreciation with personalized rewardsTime Off: Generous PTO and paid sick leaveComprehensive Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision for employees and familiesSecurity: Short-term/long-term disability and life insurance at no cost to employeeRetirement: 401(k) participationOur Commitment to InclusionWe believe diversity drives innovation.
