ERP Functional Lead

Job Summary:

The Senior Functional Lead - Part Time will provide expert functional leadership for an ERP implementation project, focusing on Finance, Payroll, Human Capital Management, and Procurement. This role involves part-time remote work with periodic travel to Victoria, BC, supporting the project through its milestones over an 18 to 24 month contract with the possibility of extension. Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with City functional leads, subject matter experts, and the System Implementor to validate and approve functional designs and business process changes.
• Resolve cross-functional conflicts, manage dependencies, and support timely decision-making and escalation management.
• Drive functional readiness activities such as testing, data conversion, and training, including defining and validating end-to-end scenarios.
• Maintain consistent interpretation of requirements, decisions, and impacts between the implementing organization and system implementor.
• Provide leadership and guidance throughout the ERP implementation lifecycle in alignment with project milestones.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum 10 years of senior functional leadership experience on ERP implementations.
• Experience leading at least one ERP implementation in a public sector organization within the last 5 years.
• Functional leadership experience across two or more of Finance, Payroll, Human Capital Management, and Procurement on a single ERP implementation.
• Experience leading functional delivery on behalf of the implementing organization (not a vendor or system implementor).
• Availability to deliver approximately 20 to 25 hours per week as project demands fluctuate.
• Ability to provide three professional references from recent ERP implementations, including at least one public sector client.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience implementing the Workday Enterprise Platform across relevant functional areas.
• Experience in Canadian municipal or local government settings with transferable knowledge to the City's context.
• Professional credentials relevant to ERP functional leadership.
• Experience working alongside system implementors to coordinate functional delivery.
• Proven approaches to conflict resolution, escalation management, and functional readiness.
• Experience with Workday in a Canadian local government context.

Special Considerations:

• Part-time remote work with periodic required travel to Victoria, BC for project kick-offs and workshops.
• Must be available to scale hours up or down based on project milestones and demands.
• References must be from client organizations, not vendors or system implementors.

Scheduling:

• Approximately 20 to 25 hours per week, with flexibility to adjust hours as the project progresses.
• Contract duration of 18 to 24 months starting November 4, 2026, with an option to extend up to one additional year.
