Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Shift

The Maintenance Technician, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing food processing and packaging equipment. This includes packaging filling and sealing machines, bucket scales, conveyors, motors, robotics, hoists, sorters, labelers, scanners, roller beds, and utility equipment. The role uses predictive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the factory business goals and objectives. Ways you will make a difference Maintain and repair food processing and packaging equipment and associated components Install and maintain gearboxes, shafts, bearings, bushings, sprockets, sheaves, belts, and general mechanical equipment. Perform equipment lubrication Install and maintain electric motors, motor starters, sensors, switches, and general electric/electronic devices Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems Analyze mechanical operations of production equipment and initiate maintenance and repair actions as needed Use Computerized Maintenance Management System to report completed work Generate parts requisitions using parts inventory control system Complete preventive maintenance routines as assigned Identify root cause of problems, propose and implement solutions This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Skills that will make you successful Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to perform precision alignment of pumps, motors, gearboxes, sprockets, and sheaves Basic electrical troubleshooting skills Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals Ability to work with minimum supervision and be results driven, proactive, able to work effectively individually and within a team Excellent communication skills, able to clearly articulate issues, opportunities and risk Ability to analyze problems and error conditions, identify root causes, and implement viable long-term solutions Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply basic algebra and geometry concepts Apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations Experiences that will support your success Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining pneumatic systems, air compressors, hydraulic systems, mechanical power, pumps, gearboxes, valves, heat exchangers, and mechanical components Preferred experience in packaging, bottling, aircraft maintenance, mechatronics, automation, industrial repair facilities, sheet metal shop, and/or installation Experience completing preventive maintenance activities Welding experience preferred (MIG, TIG) Versed in lock-out/tag-out procedures High school diploma/GED; minimum 2 years of industrial mechanical experience or completion of a craft apprenticeship or an associate’s degree in a maintenance-related field Equivalent combinations of education and paid on the job experience in an industrial maintenance shop will be considered. Must have strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, be familiar with common shop equipment and tools, have basic electrical knowledge, be able to use measuring devices, and have basic computer skills.
