CNC Machinist

This role focuses on operating HAAS CNC centers and bar feed lathes to manufacture metal brackets, handles, and valves. The CNC Machinist performs manual setups, adjusts feeders and tooling, executes basic setup codes, and ensures products meet quality standards through precise measurement and inspection.

Responsibilities

• Operate HAAS CNC centers and bar feed lathes to produce various metal brackets, handles, and valves according to specifications.
• Perform manual setup of CNC machines, including adjusting feeders and other tooling equipment to support production runs.
• Execute basic setup codes and verify that machines run correctly and efficiently.
• Read and interpret basic blueprints and schematics for daily machining tasks.
• Inspect finished and in-process products using micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to ensure they meet dimensional and quality requirements.
• Record inspection results and basic findings accurately in the company database.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow established safety procedures.
• Lift and move materials and parts weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the workday.

Essential Skills

• 2-year CNC degree or 2 years of experience in CNC operation and manual setup.
• Hands-on experience operating CNC machines, including HAAS CNC centers and bar feed lathes.
• Ability to perform manual setup of CNC equipment, including adjusting feeders and tooling.
• Proficiency in using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for machining operations.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly during the workday.
• Basic computer skills to enter inspection findings and production data into a database.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Any CNC programming experience is a plus.
• Experience working in a machine shop environment.
• Familiarity with HAAS-specific controls and interfaces.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.

Work Environment

Appropriate personal protective equipment is required, including steel-toed shoes and safety glasses. The shop setting emphasizes safe work practices, adherence to procedures, and careful handling of tools and materials.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MANKATO, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $45.00/hr.
