About the Position

Experience in infectious disease and isolation precautions. Ability to manage typical MedSurg IV medications and antibiotics. Description: The role requires strong nursing skills in a Medical Surgical environment with a focus on infectious diseases. The unit consists of 18 beds, all private rooms due to infection control measures. Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:5-6, with a possibility of 1:4 for COVID-19 patients. Every shift is staffed with 3-4 registered nurses. Certified Nursing Assistants are available with a ratio of 2 per shift. Patients may require management of CPAP or BiPAP but there are no ventilators. Remote telemetry services will be monitored with no requirement for nurses to interpret strip readings. The position involves 12-hour shifts from 0700-1930 and 1900-0730. A half-hour lunch break is included within each shift. Every other weekend shift is required, with weekend requirements specified. Holidays will be determined based on unit needs, and staff may be required to work. Traveling nurses may need to float to other Medical Surgical units as necessary. The dress code includes royal blue scrubs, with specific guidelines on scrub jackets. A one-day orientation on the electronic health record system will be provided, followed by a day of floor orientation with a preceptor. Nurses should expect to work autonomously after their orientation period.
