Business Analyst I, Underwriting

Job Summary The Business Analyst I – Underwriting supports underwriting operations by analyzing business processes, gathering requirements, and assisting in the development and implementation of solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and profitability. This entry‑level role works closely with underwriting teams, IT, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable insights and system enhancements. Responsibilities Collaborate with underwriting teams to understand workflows, business needs, and system requirements. Gather, document, and analyze business requirements for underwriting systems, tools, and processes. Assist in identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, automation, and data quality. Support the development, testing, and implementation of underwriting system enhancements and projects. Create and maintain process flows, business requirement documents (BRDs), and functional specifications. Analyze underwriting data to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities. Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure solutions meet business requirements. Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams. Assist in troubleshooting system issues and providing user support. Ensure compliance with regulatory, company, and underwriting guidelines. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, related field or equivalent business experience. 0–2 years of experience in business analysis, underwriting support, insurance, or related field. Basic understanding of insurance underwriting processes and risk assessment (preferred). Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with data tools is a plus. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of insurance systems and policy administration platforms. Exposure to SQL, data analysis tools, or reporting platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Familiarity with Agile or Waterfall project methodologies. The expected salary range for this role is USD $49,000.00 - USD $73,000.00 Yr.
