Respiratory Therapist (NICU) - Baptist

Job Overview This Respiratory Therapist (RT/CRT) position provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support for patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. The role includes RT‑CRT set‑ups, monitors, weaning of oxygen therapy, analysis of arterial blood gases, delivery of intermittent therapy, and assistance in airway management. A $25,000 sign‑on bonus is available. Responsibilities Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure. Review and document all clinical information regarding each patient. Educate patients and co‑workers on procedures and treatment plans. Perform diagnostic procedures, including arterial blood gas analysis and EKGs. Provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of patient served in assigned area. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, ensuring respect for privacy, appropriate introduction, explanation of services, permission requests, and communication style. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Education: Associate's Degree (Preferred Bachelor's Degree) Experience: None required. Certifications: Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice; National Board of Respiratory Care Registered Respiratory Therapist; Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 90 days. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Computer skills and dexterity for data entry, effective verbal and written communication, proficiency with Windows‑style applications, various software packages specific to the role and keyboard; strong interpersonal skills. Physical and Environmental Demands The physical demands of the role include the ability to lift and move objects weighing over 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly. Workers may also be required to stoop, bend, reach, and grab with arms and hands, sit or stand for prolonged periods, and travel between facilities. The position requires a flexible schedule, including 24/7, weekend, holiday, and on‑call availability.
