Job Title: Concrete Finisher Job Description

This role involves performing high-quality concrete finishing work on foundations, piers, walls, stairs, pits, trenches, slabs, and formwork. You will read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans to prepare accurate project layouts and determine dimensions, shapes, designs, and materials required. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a team-oriented mindset to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Organize, sequence, and perform assigned tasks within established schedules to meet project deadlines.

• Perform concrete flatwork preparation, including setting forms, grading, and ensuring proper subbase conditions.

• Set up, install, and remove concrete formwork for foundations, piers, walls, stairs, pits, trenches, and slabs.

• Place concrete for slab-on-grade and elevated decks using trucks, cranes, buckets, and pumps as required.

• Finish and smooth concrete surfaces to specified textures and tolerances using appropriate hand tools and power tools.

• Saw cut control joints in concrete slabs to control cracking and maintain structural integrity.

• Make repairs to cured concrete surfaces, including walls and slabs, to correct defects and maintain quality standards.

• Apply curing compounds and sealers to concrete surfaces to ensure proper curing and long-term durability.

• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for grinding, sanding, and other finishing tasks.

• Install and work with rebar and reinforcement as needed to meet project specifications.

• Perform general labor tasks related to concrete construction, including site preparation and cleanup.

• Follow established safety rules and regulations at all times and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience in concrete finishing.

• Demonstrated ability to perform concrete flatwork preparation, forming, and placement.

• Experience working with foundations, piers, walls, stairs, pits, trenches, slabs, and formwork.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and building plans.

• Ability to organize, sequence, and complete assigned tasks within established schedules.

• Hands-on experience with slab-on-grade and elevated deck concrete placement.

• Skilled in using hand tools and power tools for concrete finishing, grinding, sanding, and related tasks.

• Ability to saw cut control joints and apply curing compounds and sealers correctly.

• Experience making repairs to cured concrete surfaces, including walls and slabs.

• Knowledge of basic construction practices and general labor tasks in a concrete environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Moderate experience with concrete forming, including setting and stripping forms.

• OSHA 10 certification preferred.

• Experience working with rebar and reinforcement in concrete structures.

• Familiarity with concrete layout, including measuring and marking dimensions.

• Ability to operate tools and equipment commonly used in concrete construction safely and efficiently.

• Strong teamwork skills and a cooperative, reliable work ethic.

Work Environment

This role involves working both inside and outside, depending on project needs and site conditions. You will perform tasks on active construction sites, which may include varying weather conditions and exposure to dust, noise, and other typical construction elements. The work requires regular use of hand tools and power tools, as well as equipment such as concrete trucks, cranes, buckets, and pumps. You are expected to follow all safety rules and maintain a clean, orderly work area, wearing appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for a construction environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hilliard, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
