Human Resources Manager

Our nonprofit client is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Human Resources Manager to lead and support all core HR functions. This role is responsible for developing and overseeing human resources policies, procedures, and programs that support the organization’s employees and overall mission. The HR Manager will partner with leadership to foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with employment laws and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day human resources operations, including employee relations, performance management, compliance, and policy administration
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts to attract and support top talent
- Advise managers and staff on HR policies, procedures, and employee-related matters
- Administer compensation, benefits, leave of absence, and other employee programs
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and nonprofit workplace regulations
- Maintain and update employee handbook, HR policies, and internal procedures
- Support performance review processes, employee development, and training initiatives
- Handle employee relations matters with professionalism, discretion, and a solutions-oriented approach
- Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data
- Partner with leadership to support organizational planning, culture initiatives, and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts
- Assist with payroll coordination and benefits administration as needed
- Monitor HR trends and recommend improvements to policies and practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of progressive human resources experience, including experience in an HR generalist or HR management role
- Nonprofit experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and compliance requirements
- Experience with employee relations, recruiting, benefits administration, and performance management
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms
