Buyer/Planner 1

This role is responsible for ensuring materials needed for production are acquired on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures, coordinating production and operations activities to plan all materials to support the manufacturing schedule and inventory goals. Responsibilities Plan and procure all items for the production schedule while adhering to established inventory goals. Maintain strong working relationships with division procurement/quality departments and strategic site suppliers; communicate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials. Obtain critical procurement information from vendors (price, delivery, invoicing issues, expediting, etc.) and correspond to overcome misunderstandings or gather further information. Issue purchase orders, establish material delivery requirements and payment terms, and maintain open purchase orders. Process both MRO and MRP purchase orders and support purchasing activities for the plant. Collaborate with Warehouse staff on inventory cycle counts and maintain systems for production planning, purchasing, and inventory control/warehousing via the established MRP system. Contribute to special reports/projects as required by Management and draft/routing procurement specification changes via the document control system. Proactively report product and material availability issues and assist in developing mitigation plans. Coordinate and publish reports on Inventory Levels and Forecasts (Monthly), PPV (Purchase Price Variance) Actuals and Forecast (Monthly), and Supplier Scorecards (Quarterly). Participate in daily production meetings; review AP invoice discrepancies related to pricing or PO terms as needed. Adhere to SOPs and policies governing plant functions; comply with cGMP, Quality Standards, and established procedures. Identify, develop, and implement Cost Improvement Projects (CIPs) and PPV opportunities to meet annual variance goals. Complete special projects and assignments as requested by the Plant Manager and Division Sourcing; collaborate on tasks that support business goals. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Bachelor of Science degree in business or related field required. Minimum 0-2 years’ experience as a buyer/planner required. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) and advanced Excel. Understanding of quality in an ISO manufacturing environment; experience with data/cost analytics a plus. Experience with ERP/MRP systems; cost standards development, price negotiation, vendor selection, and PO maintenance a plus. Locations and Compensation Primary Work Location: USA MA - Woburn.
