ADS Program Assistant

Position Summary Under the supervision of the Aging and Disability Services Manager, the Aging and Disabilities Services Program Assistant provides a variety of social services functions, supportive services and clerical duties that call for knowledge of agency services and program requirements. May serve as the initial contact between the general public and the ARDC Division. Also backs‑up to the WHEAP Coordinator. Requires the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out responsibilities. First review of applications July 15, 2026 Essential Duties And Responsibilities Receives ADRC referrals via phone, walk‑in, mail or computer and enters information in computer databases Assist with processing ADRC referrals and quality assurance activities Offers information and assistance to individuals who are elderly, physically disabled, developmentally/intellectually disabled and those who are experiencing mental illness or substance abuse issues Assist professional staff as a provider of supportive services and in the delivery of services Interview clients to assist professional staff such as determining eligibility for services and providing referral information Assist in maintaining case records and reports Organize and disseminate documents, reports and correspondences Provide clerical support for WHEAP, nutrition, and transportation programs Provide back‑up to Aging and WHEAP Coordinator Assist Aging and APS Social Workers in delivery of services or functions including but not limited to, WATTS review tracking, court preparations and paperwork Assists clients in obtaining supportive services Assists professionals with query records or reports, pulling/reviewing hard file records, making copies, managing and filing records Interacts with the public and co‑workers in a courteous, proficient, and professional manner Maintains skill and competency levels as policies and regulations change by attending and participating in staff meetings, supervision times and other regularly scheduled meetings; develops knowledge and skills by attending training events and workshops Maintains security and confidentiality of records Compiles, calculates, and tabulates statistical data and prepares reports as needed Assist with evidence‑based programing initiatives Performs general agency typing, word processing, data entry, reception and general clerical support Performs other duties as assigned Education And Experience Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Sociology or Social Science preferred Minimum of one (1) year paid or volunteer experience working with persons who are elderly, developmentally/intellectually disabled or physically disabled Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required To Perform Job Knowledge and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs Knowledge of agency services and program requirements Knowledge of resources and ways in which these resources may be used by people in need Ability to work with diverse populations Ability to relate to people in an unprejudiced and understanding manner with concerns for their circumstances and feelings Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person and over the telephone Ability to interview people, extract required information and make good independent judgments Ability to compile data/documentation and provide accurate and understandable reports Ability to participate meaningfully in trainings provided by the agency or other resources Ability to work as part of a service delivery team Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to most effectively achieve objectives Ability to learn specialized software applications and programs as required Ability to work with confidential material Ability to read and interpret documents, and laws in the English language Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas in spoken and written format so individuals may effectively understand and convey communications Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form Inductive and deductive reasoning – ability to combine separate pieces of information, or specific answers to problems, to form general rules or conclusions; includes coming up with a logical explanation for why a series of seemingly unrelated events occur together and deciding if an answer makes sense Benefit Summary Health Insurance Employee Contribution 2026: Non Union Employees Premium Employee Share - 11% Family - $2,477.85/month $ 136.28/pay period Single - $1,086.78/month $ 59.78/pay period Sheriff's Deputies Union Premium Employee Share - 12% Family - $2,477.85/month $ 148.67/pay period Single - $ 1,086.78/month $ 65.21/pay period Vision – VSP 2026 Family - $11.22/ pay period Employee + 1 - $6.82/ pay period Employee & Child - $ 6.96/ pay period Single Plan - $ 3.83/ pay period Dental Insurance 2026: Employee Share – 50% Premium Employee Share Family Plan - $84.98/month $21.25 / pay period Single Plan - $29.82/month $7.10 / pay period Life Insurance: County paid for employee equal to yearly salary. Additional coverage and coverage for spouse and dependents are available at additional cost. Deferred Compensation Plans: Two plans are available. Voluntary Accident/Cancer/Critical Illness Insurance: Employer will contribute $10 per month towards the plan.
