UPF (Uranium Processing Facility) Engineering Process Commissioning Specialist

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is actively seeking Engineering, Professional, Technical, and administrative support personnel for our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor, and will take day‑to‑day direction from Y‑12 staff at the facilities. Pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS. Responsibilities Ensure validation and implementation of the Unified Program of Work (UPF) safety basis and technical design requirements in preparation for readiness. Review technical adequacy of safety basis and supporting documents. Review drawings, specifications and other design documents implementing safety basis requirements. Validate and verify implementation of technical design requirements in drawings, specifications and other design documents. Verify results of acceptance testing to ensure design criteria and safety basis requirements are adequately demonstrated. Lead facility and systems operational readiness by preparing and verifying readiness affirmation evidence packages. Qualifications Bachelor of Science from an ABET accredited program in Engineering/Physical Science (Chemistry, Physics, or related) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (e.g., B.S. degree in engineering or related scientific major; 2 years job‑related experience and 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance. Successful completion of a post‑offer pre‑employment drug test for external applicants. Pre‑placement medical examinations may be required. If required, participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in addition to the pre‑employment drug screen. Preferred Job Requirements Experience coordinating engineering effort.
