About the Role

The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President of Accounting Operations to join their team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, take full ownership of financial reporting, and lead the annual audit process. This role is pivotal in modernizing and improving processes, systems, and reporting efficiencies, and offers hands-on exposure to both operational and strategic finance across multiple entities. The AVP will also be responsible for implementing and enhancing business intelligence tools and dashboards, as well as leading a team and driving broad cross-functional collaboration. Key responsibilities for the AVP of Accounting Operations include overseeing the monthly close, reconciliations, and financial statement accuracy, leading audit coordination, and managing external auditors and tax firm relationships. The role also involves ensuring compliance with regulatory and financial reporting requirements, managing cash activity, fixed assets, and general ledger integrity, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent, 6-10 years of progressive accounting experience, and a background in the insurance industry. Advanced Excel skills, strong systems aptitude, and experience in managing audits, filings, and third-party vendors are essential.
