Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialization in Hematology Oncology for an outpatient clinic setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to providing high-quality care to patients undergoing chemotherapy and related treatments.

Key Responsibilities

Administer chemotherapy and manage patient care in an outpatient setting.
Utilize central line experience to facilitate treatment and access for patients.
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
Follow infection control and safety protocols while providing care.
Document patient assessments and responses to treatment in the electronic health record system.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of Oncology-specific experience is required.
First-time travelers are accepted.
Current BCLS certification is mandatory.
ONS Chemo/Bio Card is required.
Preferred certification: OCN.

Job Details

Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:5.
Shifts: Full-time, 8-hour days from 07:45 to 17:15.
Available hours: 40 per week.
Contract length: 13 weeks.
Pre-shift COVID screening is required.
No on-call or weekend requirements.
Potential for floating between two clinic locations, situated approximately 14.1 miles apart.

Patient Population

Caring for adults aged 18 and older, with a focus on hematology and medical oncology. The outpatient clinic accommodates 10 infusion chairs adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Equipment and Systems

Familiarity with Pyxis and Epic electronic health record systems is preferred.
Communication tools include Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
Mixing technicians and pharmacy handle all chemotherapy preparations.
Special equipment includes ambulatory infusion pumps.

Orientation and Dress Code

Unit orientation is 8 hours and varies based on skill level; hospital orientation is scheduled during the first week of employment.
RNs are required to bring their own stethoscope.
Scrubs are navy blue, and are not provided by the unit.
