Job Description

This Junior Architect role focuses on producing high-quality construction drawings for a wide range of commercial projects, with a particular emphasis on retail and hospitality work. You will participate in all phases of the project lifecycle, from initial site surveys and conceptual design through schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration. Working closely within a small, collaborative team, you will gain hands-on exposure to every stage of project delivery and contribute directly to the successful completion of multiple, fast-paced commercial projects.

Responsibilities

• Use Revit and AutoCAD to produce accurate and detailed construction drawings for commercial projects, including retail stores, rollouts, big box stores, hospitality projects, and similar developments.
• Participate in all phases of the design and construction process, including initial existing condition surveys, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
• Prepare complete construction drawing sets (CDs), including plans, elevations, sections, details, and other required documentation to support permitting, bidding, and construction.
• Incorporate redlines and feedback from architects, project architects, and project managers to refine and improve drawing sets and design solutions.
• Support construction administration by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and coordinating with contractors and engineering consultants to resolve design and field issues.
• Collaborate closely with other team members in a small office environment to meet project deadlines, maintain quality standards, and achieve project goals.
• Travel to job sites as needed to conduct existing condition surveys, verify field dimensions, and document site information for use in design and construction documents.
• Coordinate with clients and engineering trades to move projects forward, clarify design intent, and ensure that project requirements are accurately reflected in the drawings.
• Contribute to a service-oriented practice by maintaining strong communication with clients and internal teams, providing timely responses, and supporting long-term client relationships.
• Participate in ongoing training and development to learn and apply firm standards, client-specific requirements, and best practices across all phases of work.

Essential Skills

• Full proficiency in Revit, with the ability to independently produce complete and coordinated construction drawings.
• Full proficiency in AutoCAD, including the ability to create, edit, and manage detailed drawing sets for commercial projects.
• 2–4 years of architectural experience, preferably gained in a small office environment where you contributed to multiple phases of project delivery.
• Demonstrated commercial architecture experience, with a strong preference for retail projects such as rollouts, big box stores, supermarkets, self storage facilities, car dealerships, or similar building types.
• Proven ability to put together full sets of construction documents (CDs), including plans, sections, elevations, details, and schedules.
• Hands-on involvement in schematic design, design development, and construction administration for commercial projects.
• Experience responding to RFIs and handling submittals as part of the construction administration process.
• Ability to interpret and apply redlines from team members to improve drawing accuracy and quality.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, engineering trades, and internal team members.
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
• Motivation to pursue architectural licensure, demonstrating a commitment to long-term professional growth.

This is a Permanent position based out of Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
