Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring Epic EMR proficiency and a valid VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Med/Surg Telemetry unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Telemetry monitoring performed on the unit
• Epic EMR experience required
• Floating to other units may be required based on facility needs
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active VA RN license in hand or proof of a valid Compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Telemetry experience, with specialty experience within the last year
• Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS; ACLS preferred — all certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Epic EMR experience required
• NIH and stroke education required
• Proficient IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including starting and maintaining IVs, peripheral line care, central line blood draws, and PICC line management
• Experience with blood product administration and PCA, heparin, and insulin medication management
• Respiratory management skills including nasal cannula, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration
• SSN and a copy of driver's license required for consideration
• One supervisory reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Local candidates are accepted for this position
• Prior permanent employees of the health system must have a minimum 6-month gap before being eligible to travel with this facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO should be kept to a minimum — no full calendar weeks off preferred, and no more than 7 days total; all RTO requests must be submitted upfront and no additional RTO will be approved after an offer is extended
• Candidates cannot simultaneously work travel and per diem contracts with this health system — one must be chosen
• An interview with the manager is required for all candidates
