Events Operations Manager

Job Description

The classification is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all event-related activities at the Bradenton Area Convention Center and the Powel Crosley Estate, which includes the maintenance and alcohol service departments.

Essential functions include scheduling and overseeing of all event-related personnel, planning, assigning, directing, and evaluating the work of assigned staff, supervising set-ups, tear-downs, and clean-ups, recommending additional or replacement equipment and supplies, and working with third-party vendors in menu development for concessions and other events.

The position is designated by the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners as serving at the will and pleasure of the County Administrator. Employment in this position is at will and may be terminated at any time, with or without cause or notice, in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Three (3) or more years of experience working in a Convention & Civic Center or related event industry. Prior supervisory/lead experience.

Bachelor's degree preferred. Knowledge of department or division operations and programs. Knowledge of modern management methods and practices. Ability to exercise mature judgment and to make independent decisions in accordance with established department or division policies and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees and the general public. Skill in computer operations and pertinent software applications, i.e., MS Office, etc. Excellent time management and public relations skills.
