Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) - NC Surgery Bariatrics

We are currently searching for an Advanced Practice Provider to join our NC Surgery Medical Weight Loss Division, a part of UNC Rex. Applicants with experience in weight management are preferred, however we are open to those with prior medical experience or strong new graduates. The APP will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients seeking medically supervised weight management solutions through evidence‑based care plans, lifestyle counseling, and appropriate pharmacological therapies. The position is Monday through Friday and will be a combination of telehealth and in‑person clinic. Summary An Advanced Practice Provider functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high‑quality, cost‑effective care to patients within the APP’s scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical – Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests, develops differential diagnoses, and implements treatment plans including prescribing pharmacological agents. Conducts preventive health screening, maintains comprehensive records, stays current with disease and pathologic processes, prioritizes work, maintains productivity, leads improvement projects, and performs medical procedures consistent with guidelines. Education – Educates clients and families, collaborates with clinicians, develops educational materials, provides instruction to physicians and staff, and participates in learning programs. Leadership – Provides instruction, participates in outreach, develops community programs, demonstrates understanding of systems, and leads and participates in system improvements. Professional – Interacts respectfully with patients, families, and coworkers, responds quickly to needs, shares responsibility, and accepts accountability. Quality/Research – Engages in continuous quality improvement, consults with management, leads interdisciplinary teams, revises protocols, influences policy, and develops new clinical programs. Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department; DEA registration. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills. Effective interaction to ensure successful care of patients in the clinical setting. Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
