Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - NC Urology Raleigh

We are currently searching for Advanced Practice Providers, preferably with urology experience but open to strong and motivated new graduate candidates, to join our NC Urology team at Rex/UNC Hospital and Rex/UNC Holly Springs Hospital (APP would work in both locations). The APP will work alongside a growing team of four Surgeons and two APPs to deliver patient centered comprehensive urologic care. This position will focus primarily on inpatient clinical care and management (evaluating ER and inpatient consults, rounding on postoperative patients, performing bedside procedures, and patient care coordination), outpatient clinical care and operating room coverage (if needed); the hospital and outpatient clinic are side by side in both locations. Outpatient clinic will entail management of a variety of acute and chronic urologic conditions (primarily general urology and urologic oncology), preoperative and postoperative patients, wound care, foley catheter care/management, patient triaging, and other roles as needed to support the surgeons and team. Summary An Advanced Practice Provider functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical- Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform thorough physical assessment, review and interpret pertinent diagnostic tests/results. Develop appropriate differential diagnoses. Develop and implement treatment plans including prescribing/ordering of appropriate evidence‑based pharmacological agents consistent with departmental guidelines and privileging, and schedule appropriate follow‑up management. Actively incorporate evidence-based hospital initiatives to improve patient care. Conduct preventive health screening based on age, history and patient needs. Maintain clear comprehensive yet concise records of all aspects of patient care. Maintain essential knowledge of general disease and pathologic processes. Maintain extensive knowledge of their specialty literature including awareness of developing areas. Consistently derive correct diagnoses through synthesis of clinical data and proper selection and interpretation of diagnostic studies. Develop comprehensive differential diagnoses for patients. Revise the plan of care to meet the changing needs of the patient. Prioritize work and assist staff to provide prompt and efficient client flow. Consistently maintain high productivity according to identified standards. Lead/participate in projects to improve productivity. Appropriately perform medical procedures consistent with departmental guidelines, privileging, and clinical roles/responsibilities. Education- Appropriately and professionally educate clients and/or families regarding medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up. Collaborate with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity and patient/family centered care. Develop educational materials based on learning needs of clinicians, staff, and students. Provide education/instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries and/or students. Actively recognize and participate in identification and achievement of self‑learning needs. Attend education programs based on identified learning needs. Leadership- Provide instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries and/or students including but not limited to precepting, shadowing, lectures, training classes, CE, rounds, morning report, and or staff meetings. Participate in community/network outreach programs. Develop/leads community/network outreach programs. Demonstrate both an understanding of the contexts and system in which healthcare is provided and the ability to apply this knowledge to improve and optimize health care delivery. Lead/participate in systems improvements. Professional- Interact with patients and families in a respectful, courteous and timely fashion using appropriate communication for the patient and situation. Interact collaboratively with coworkers, other team members and staff in a respectful, courteous, and timely fashion appropriate to patient care needs and situations. Quality/Research- Engage in daily continuous quality improvement by identifying and implementing processes for improvement. Consult with management in assessment, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and evaluating clinical/system issues and models of care. Lead interdisciplinary teams to provide integrated delivery of patient care services. Initiate and revise protocol(s) or guideline(s) to reflect evidence‑based changes in care management. Work to influence policy‑making bodies to improve patient care. Develop new clinical programs or services within the department/unit/clinic to improve patient care. Other Information Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required.
