Surgical Scrub Tech | Montgomery, Alabama

An opportunity is available for surgical technologists and operating room technicians with strong trauma, neuro, and general surgical experience. This contract role requires coverage for 12-hour night shifts (36 hours per week) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, starting at 6:30 pm. Work within a fast-paced environment at a 492-bed facility featuring a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center, engaging with a diverse surgical case mix.


Schedule:

• 12-hour nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Shift start: 6:30 pm
• Weekend and on-call rotations required (on call for every service line except Open Heart: one weekday 3pm-7am, one weekend/month Friday 3pm-Monday 7am)
• Two weeks on day shift orientation with buddy call

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of surgical tech or ORT experience; candidates with only 1 year of experience will not be considered
• Certification as a surgical technologist is preferred but not required
• Robust trauma and neuro experience required
• Strong background with general, vascular (endovascular preferred), ENT, Gyn, urology, plastics, breasts, eyes, and robotics (Robotic Mazor/DaVinci XI strongly preferred)
• Open Heart/CVOR experience only required if covering those cases
• Candidates must be comfortable with minimal pediatric ortho cases
• Will consider first-time travelers with the required level of experience

Duties:

• Provide surgical scrub support for a wide range of specialties, including trauma, neuro, general, and vascular cases
• Collaborate with OR team, including desk assistants, FA's, charge nurses, and team leaders
• Accurately utilize Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
• Participate in orientation and attend buddy call shifts
• Adhere to holiday and on-call requirements
