Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med/Surg (General) Telemetry Duration: 6 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 7 am - 7 pm Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: None specified Description: The nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:5. On occasion, this may increase to 1:6, but that is not the norm. Charting is done using the EPIC system. Smart pumps are used for IV administration. There is no dedicated IV team. It is the responsibility of the RN to initiate IVs. There are multiple staff members available on the units who are able to assist with ultrasound-guided IV placements if necessary. A rapid response RN is available per shift to help, when needed, but their primary function is not IV starts. Phlebotomy services are provided by PCAs on the floors. Each RN is also capable of performing venipuncture. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment and 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks. Charting is conducted using the EPIC system. A BSN is not required for this position. The trauma level is not specified. This position is within an acute care setting.
