New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range. # of Positions : 1 Work Location : Sacramento County Telework : In Office Job Type : Permanent, Full Time Facility : Cal Center Regional Office Department Information Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is a member of the boards, departments, and offices (BDOs) within the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA). This position is located at DTSC’s Cal Center Regional office in Sacramento, CA. Job Description and Duties The Sacramento Regional Office seeks a highly organized, team-oriented individual to serve as our receptionist. The details of this key role within our Regional Administration Team are contained in the duty statement. As an Office Assistant (General) you will: Answer, screen, and redirect main line calls for the Sacramento Regional Office Greet visitors, determine the purpose of their visit, and direct them to the appropriate staff or conference room Maintain sign‑in/out sheets and issue visitor badges for emergency purposes Utilize DTSC’s e‑mail system to reserve, confirm, and maintain master schedules for all conference rooms in the Sacramento Regional Office Provide temporary access badges to staff and vendors and ensure they are returned in a timely manner by maintaining a list of temporary access badges that have not been returned Provide parking passes to Sacramento Regional Office staff, maintain a list of passes that need to be returned, and notify supervisor of staff who fail to return parking passes Desirable Qualifications Ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external contacts in a professional manner with integrity and respect Ability to help facilitate expeditious resolution of problems from in‑person requests, incoming phone calls and emails Good organizational and time‑management skills and flexibility in response to changing workloads and priorities Must be tactful and maintain a good rapport with other employees, peers, and supervisors Excellent customer service skills Competent in computer programs such as Excel, Outlook, and Word Mailroom, shipping and receiving experience Analytical skills including the ability to draw sound conclusions and take effective action Special Requirements A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required for the hiring manager’s review.
