THE ROLE

As an Overhead Crane Service Technician – Apprentice , you will be working in the field assisting with the installation, repair, inspection, and preventative maintenance of overhead cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment. This is a great permanent opportunity for someone who has a strong electrical and mechanical background and is looking to build a long-term career in the overhead crane industry.

You will work alongside an experienced service team while developing your technical skills through hands-on field experience. This role is ideal for someone who is technically inclined, eager to learn, and enjoys troubleshooting and hands-on work in a manufacturing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with troubleshooting and inspecting equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
• Work within a team environment to accomplish service and maintenance goals
• Assist with inspections of hoists, cranes, systems, chain falls, and pullers
• Assist with ordering parts and maintaining inventory
• Complete maintenance reports and documentation
• Assist with crane inspections, repairs, installations, and breakdown calls
• Adjust equipment and assist with repairing or replacing defective parts
• Assist with preventative maintenance on overhead cranes and material handling equipment
• Follow safe working practices and company safety procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 1 year of hands-on electrical experience
• Secondary school diploma or high school equivalent as a minimum
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Technically inclined with an interest in troubleshooting and repair
• Knowledge and understanding of structural, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Welding experience is considered an asset
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Excellent people and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Able to work in elevated areas
• Eager to learn and develop technical skills
• Available to work overtime as required
• Must have reliable own transportation
• Valid driver's license in good standing
