Registered Nurse IV Department: Department of Mental Health Schedule: Full-time Shift: Multiple shifts (Monday‑Friday, 2:30 p.m.–11 p.m., mandatory overtime) Number of Openings: 1 Salary: $94,447.86 – $157,600.04 per year Bargaining Unit: 07‑MNA – Professional Health Care Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care, including medication administration, vital‑sign assessment, scheduled treatments, and patient counseling. Assess and evaluate each client daily for psychiatric or medical changes. Deliver daily medication teaching to promote medication independence. Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients, adapting to preferences and evolving needs. Provide clinical oversight for clients and staff regarding all medication and clinical issues. Communicate clinically significant changes and document in shift reports and client charts. Perform charge and supervisory duties for all staff during the shift. Liaise and consult with the on‑call CCS physician on client issues. Provide emergency assessment and evaluation of a client in crisis, develop a crisis intervention plan, and consult the B.E.S.T. team when necessary. Oversee and document self‑medication of 40 adult clients. Monitor and update physician orders each shift; perform monthly order‐summary duties. Identify staff training needs and deliver educational programming. Report critical incidents to administration, including clients missing the facility for 24 hours. Complete registration forms for client admission and discharge. Implement rehabilitation treatment plans with a focus on medication compliance. Act as code blue and code green coordinator for the shift. Apply treatment plans using sound clinical judgment, initiative, and decision‑making. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to provide case‑management services and promote community functioning. Advocate for clients’ treatment goals with families, significant others, and other professionals. Respond positively to changes in clinical priorities and procedures. Maintain punctuality at shift start and monitor other staff punctuality. Recommend new equipment purchases as needed. Pursue additional knowledge and skills through conferences and continuing education. Supervise other staff and trainees as assigned. Complete paperwork in a timely manner to meet regulatory, quality‑assurance, and legal standards. Required Qualifications Knowledge of physiological, psychological, and emotional growth and development principles. Familiarity with drug classes used in treating mental and physical disorders. Competence in diagnostic procedures used in nursing practice. Experience with interviewing and problem‑solving techniques. Understanding of psychotherapies and psychosocial rehabilitation principles. Ability to apply agency rules, regulations, and laws and maintain accurate records. Skill in giving clear oral and written instructions. Capacity to read and interpret physician orders, treatment plans, and participate in multidisciplinary teams. Sound judgment, decision‑making, and rapid action in emergencies. Proficiency in establishing rapport with diverse cultural, racial, and lifestyle groups. Ability to maintain client confidentiality. Ability to motivate clients to participate in individual treatment plans. Experience with clients under physical and emotional stress. Skill in assessing, analyzing, and applying clinical data to make recommendations or referrals. Capability to supervise and evaluate staff, and plan and conduct nursing training sessions. Proficiency in preparing and implementing treatment plans. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and standards governing the agency and unit. Familiarity with agency forms and documentation. Awareness of public and private community‑based resources for clients. Experience with agency safety practices and procedures. Education in newer therapies, interventions, and behavioral techniques. Experience in substance‑abuse treatment. Spanish speaking preferred. License and Certification Requirements Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. Health Requirements Candidates must be vaccinated for COVID‑19 and Influenza, or complete required mitigation measures, in accordance with state regulations.
