House Manager & Family Assistant

Location: Westfield, NJ 07090

Employment Type: Part-time (10-12 hours/week)

Schedule: 2-3 days per week, Monday-Thursday availability preferred. Flexible timing, preference for noon-5pm window. Occasional weekend evening babysitting as needed (1-2x per month).

Compensation: $2530/hour, based on experience

Start Date: ASAP

  • CPR certification preferred
  • A strong commitment to maintaining a clean, comfortable home environment that supports children's health and well-being, including thoughtful practices like regular handwashing and removing shoes upon entry

  • Use of family vehicle for errands and potential child pickups/drop-offs
About Our Family

We are a warm, friendly family who loves spending time together, even though our days can get busy with work and family life. With a 1-year-old and a full-sized dog, we're all about keeping our home peaceful, organized, and a fun place to be. You are a proactive, organized, and detail-oriented individual with a genuine passion for making life easier for those around you. You thrive in hands-on environments and are comfortable taking charge of various household tasks, stepping in wherever needed. Highly self-sufficient, you can quickly assess what needs to be done and act accordingly. As a natural communicator, you strike a healthy balance between keeping us updated and respecting boundaries when it is time to give us space. Warm, approachable, and reliable, you will become a trusted partner in our home, helping us manage our busy lives while also creating room for more intentional family time.

Your key responsibilities will include managing laundry, keeping our home organized and tidy, and assisting with all the kid-related tasks that come up throughout the day. The time and care you dedicate to these areas will allow us to focus on what matters most, which is spending quality time together as a family. We are looking for someone who is not only skilled and organized but also a good "temperature taker," someone who can sense the rhythm of the family and adjust accordingly. You embrace the challenge of adapting to new needs and responsibilities as our family evolves. You want to grow with us over time, building a strong, long-lasting relationship with our family, and providing the support needed for us to stay on track. Key Responsibilities

Household Management & Organization

  • Reset and tidy rooms daily; maintain overall neatness, ensure home is prepped for cleaning services (1x weekly)
  • Load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high traffic areas
  • Maintain and streamline household organization systems (closets, storage, pantry, toys)
  • Awareness of household schedules and calendars
  • Conduct seasonal swaps (kids clothing, dcor, bedding, etc.)
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop offs and pick ups

Meal Planning & Preparation

  • Plan and prep healthy meals/snacks for kids
  • Pack school lunches (5x weekly)
  • Prep and make kid's dinner (5x weekly)
  • Shop for groceries and meal-related items
  • Follow dietary needs and family preferences (egg allergy and cashew sensitivity)
  • Clean kitchen post-prep and manage kitchen tidiness

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (e.g., clothing, bedding, towels)
  • Iron, steam, and prepare outfits as needed
  • Manage linens: refresh towels, restock essentials
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies
  • Handle special care for delicates or athletic gear

Family Support & Child Assistance

  • Unpack and prep backpack and clothing for school
  • Occasionally assist with school pick-ups or drop-offs
  • Light supervision, playtime, or back-up childcare (including mealtimes)
  • Help with child-related laundry
  • Offer childcare support as the family's needs evolve, stepping in where helpful to provide consistent, thoughtful care

Inventory Management & Errands

  • Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, household supplies
  • Create and manage running household supply lists
  • Coordinate and manage household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Oversee outdoor spaces and seasonal maintenance needs

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Maintain and refresh specific zones (entryways)
  • Organize special projects: toy storage, seasonal decorations, gear rotation, basement and pantry

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

  • Awareness of family calendars and reminders
  • Handle basic budgeting or receipt tracking for expenses incurred as house manager
