Sustainability Analyst

Job Overview HDR is seeking a Sustainability Analyst to provide environmental analysis on a variety of projects related to the built environment. The analyst will work with architects, designers, and engineers to perform conceptual energy modeling, embodied carbon and environmental analysis, and support third‑party sustainable certifications such as LEED, Fitwel, and WELL. Responsibilities Conduct conceptual energy modeling and whole‑building life cycle assessments. Perform daylighting, glare, thermal comfort studies and embodied carbon analysis. Support LEED project administration and compliance reporting. Prepare and deliver sustainable design presentations to clients. Assist in developing documentation for third‑party certifications. Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of environmental analysis experience. Proficiency with early‑energy and daylight modeling software (e.g., Climate Studio, DIVA, Radiance, DAYSIM, CoveTool, Equest, EnergyPlus). Experience with embodied‑carbon analysis and whole‑building life cycle assessment tools (e.g., OneClick LCA, EC3, Tally). LEED Accredited Professional; specialty designation preferred. Active pursuit of registered architect or professional engineer licensure preferred but not required. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Planning, or a closely related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in architecture, interior design, planning, or engineering. Solid knowledge of sustainability, building science, integrated design, and third‑party rating system guidelines (e.g., LEED, Envision). Familiarity with certification standards (LEED, BREEM, LBC, etc.) and application across HDR Business Groups. Strong prioritization, time‑management, and communication skills (verbal and written). Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator). Ability to work unscheduled overtime and travel when required. Self‑starter with a proactive, energetic, and team‑oriented attitude. Skills and Competencies Passion for sustainable design integration. Preliminary knowledge of CA Green Building Code and Energy Code. Familiarity with healthy materials selection and certifications (red‑list free, EPDs, HPDs, etc.). Knowledge of BIM (Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp). Experience with parametric modeling tools (Grasshopper, Ladybug, Honeybee) preferred. Compensation & Benefits The expected compensation range for this position is $71,000 – $92,000 and depends upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
