Department Information

Housing and Residence Life is passionate about the Georgia Tech residential student experience. With 97% of all first-year students choosing to live on campus, we create spaces and opportunities for Yellow Jackets to grow and connect from their first day of college through their graduate studies. We are proud to support our students' personal development and academic endeavors while providing a safe and comfortable living environment.

Our department is a large and complex organization supporting over 8,700 on-campus residents among 49 traditional, suite, and apartment-style residence halls, some of which were constructed for the 1996 Summer Olympics. Our team of 200+ professional staff and 300+ student staff from six units supports residents directly and indirectly with their unique talents. We are housed within the C ampus Services division, which includes many student service offices.

Job Summary

Supervise and coordinate administrative services within a large campus unit. Areas of responsibility can include administrative affairs related to human resources, purchasing, budgets, and financial records, as well as general clerical support within the unit. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
  • This position will interact regularly with unit management and staff.
  • This position typically will advise and counsel:unit management and staff.
  • This position will supervise: assigned unit administrative personnel.
Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Develop and implement unit administrative processes and procedures consistent with the Institute's overall administrative policy.

Job Duty 2 -
Define and communicate administrative staff duties; monitor performance and provide feedback.

Job Duty 3 -
Supervise the maintenance of unit financial records.

Job Duty 4 -
Oversee unit human resources administration, including transaction processing, time reporting, and records maintenance.

Job Duty 5 -
Supervise and coordinate direct administrative support to unit management.

Job Duty 6 -
Organize and supervise the unit records management function.

Job Duty 7 -
Coordinate unit purchasing activities, including preparation of purchasing documents, ordering and maintaining supplies, etc.

Job Duty 8 -
Schedule and organize meetings and other events.

Job Duty 9 -
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Six to eight years of job-related experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising or leading administrative staff, including delegating tasks, monitoring workload, and supporting performance.
  • Prior responsibility for coordinating office operations such as scheduling, event logistics, and service delivery.
  • Prior experience with event management
  • Experience serving as a point of escalation or problem solver for operational issues.
  • Ability to coach and support administrative team members during periods of transition or change.
  • Proficiency with business systems such as Workday, Concur, or similar platforms
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced administrative environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proposed Salary

Pay Range: $65,202-$92,000/yr.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This position requires supervisory and organization skills, knowledge of general office administrative processes and practices, records management and event planning. Use of office related computer applications is required.

Other Information

This is a 6-month, limited-term position, subject to the availability of funding thereafter. All employment and assignments are ultimately contingent upon available funding, business needs, and your performance of the assignment. Georgia Tech retains the right to terminate this assignment at any time for cause or, in its sole discretion, for convenience; in either case, Georgia Tech's obligation shall be limited to payment for hours and/or days worked prior to the termination date. This is a limited-term position. The position is expected to end on December 15, 2026.
