Carpenters are responsible for completing a variety of rough and finish carpentry jobs on construction project sites.**What You Will Do:***As a Carpenter, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:** Works with varied materials including but not limited to wood, plastic, fiberglass or drywall.* Utilizes tools including but not limited to chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to erect and repair structures.* Utilizes tools including but not limited to levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure.* Joins materials with nails, screws, staples or adhesives.* Safely operates a variety of saws and other carpentry tools.* Checks work along the way to ensure it meets all code and specification requirements.* Works on top of stilts, ladders and the top beams of buildings.* Performs the building of handrails, steps, drilling, and patching, light concrete work.* Builds stairs, temp doors, ramps, temp walls, etc.* Erects various types of scaffolding including pipe and safety barriers, and make provisions on scaffolding for moving and handling materials needed for the job.* Keeps immediate working area clean. Must use broom and wheelbarrows and follow material procedures.* Able to look at flat drawings and understand how they would look as solid objects.**Travel:** Must have reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel 60 miles a day dependent on project location relative to where the employee lives.**What You Will Bring to the Team:***Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:** Minimum two years in construction carpentry experience.*Preferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:** High School Diploma or GED.* Minimum two years in construction carpentry experience.**Additional Eligibility Qualifications*** Must understand safety rules and tool/equipment instructions.* Have the ability to take measurements and make calculations.* Have good communication skills both orally and in writing.* Must pass any skills tests as required by the jobsite.* Ability to problem solve when errors occur.* Keep tools and workspace organized.* Must be conscious of time schedules and deadlines.* Maintain regular and punctual attendance.* Must be able to tolerate heights without fear.* Must have own hand tools, power tools to be provided by Christman.*The Christman family of companies is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer that is committed to diversity.
