Database Administrator- W2 only

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator to support a major modernization initiative for the Florida Department of Education. The Database Administrator will manage production and non-production database environments supporting the Enhanced Field System (EFS) modernization project, assist with database migration activities, support the DEL Parent Portal, and provide database performance, security, reporting, and optimization expertise. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain production and non-production databases supporting the EFS modernization initiative.
• Support and maintain database migration activities.
• Maintain and update the DEL Parent Portal as required.
• Develop and optimize complex T-SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
• Administer Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, Azure SQL and cloud database environments.
• Monitor and tune database performance, troubleshoot complex database issues, and improve query response times.
• Optimize cloud database resources for performance, scalability, availability, and cost.
• Create and maintain reporting solutions using SSRS and Azure Power BI.
• Support database backup, recovery, security, access, and maintenance activities.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate technical progress to key stakeholders.
• Produce technical documentation and monthly status reporting.
• Support project leadership, executive steering, and project-management activities as needed.
• Identify technical obstacles and assist with contingency and remediation planning.
• Participate in meetings with state and federal stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of database administration experience involving database design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration.
• 8+ years of hands-on MS T-SQL experience, including complex queries, views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
• 5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) experience.
• 5+ years producing technical documentation such as requirements, specifications, traceability matrices, designs, and testing documentation.
• 3+ years creating and maintaining Azure Power BI reports.
• 3+ years of web application development experience.
• 2+ years working with Azure DevOps and Visual Studio .NET.
• 3+ years administering cloud database platforms such as Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, and/or Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
• Strong database performance-tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization experience.
• Experience supporting high-volume transactional and analytical database workloads.
• Expert knowledge of relational database-management systems and database architecture.
• Experience with database backup/recovery, security, data models, data repositories, data dictionaries, and data warehousing.
• Experience supporting large-scale technology implementations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
