Position Title Senior Research Associate Position Type Fixed Term (Fixed Term) Hiring Range $37.31, per hour - $38.00 per hour. Compensation will be based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity. Pay Frequency Hourly A. Position Purpose Conduct research and support the research activities of the research group led by Professor On Shun Pak at Santa Clara University. B. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct research projects and support research development Conduct research assigned by the faculty supervisor to a high standard that leads to publications in peer‑reviewed journals. Assist in the design of research program and development of proposal for research funding. Assist in supervising students in the research group. Engage in the dissemination of the results of the research. Lab management, including administrative and management work associated with the research program. Other duties as assigned. C. Provides Work Direction Provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate student researchers in Professor On Shun Pak’s research group. D. General Guidelines Recommends initiatives and implements changes to improve research quality. Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices. Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives. Researchers and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow. Prepares progress reports; informs supervisor of project status; and deviation from goals. Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions. Prepares and submits reports as requested and required. Develops and implements guidelines to support the functions of the unit. E. Qualifications Knowledge : Knowledge in fluid mechanics, microhydrodynamics, and soft matter physics. Skills : Theoretical and/or computational skills in fluid mechanics, microhydrodynamics and soft matter physics. Abilities : Perform research in fluid mechanics and soft matter physics. Education : Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or closely related fields. Years of Experience : 2 years of theoretical/computational research experience required. F. Physical Demands Considerable time is spent at a desk using a computer terminal. May be required to travel to other buildings on the campus, attend conference and training sessions within Bay Area or in‑or‑out‑of‑state locations, and occasionally travel to outside customers, vendors or suppliers. G. Work Environment Typical office and laboratory environment. Mostly indoor office and laboratory environment. Offices and laboratory with equipment noise and frequent interruptions.
