Medical Assistant- 1st Shift

Company Description Bay Area Arthritis and Osteoporosis (BAAO) currently looking for a FT (Certified) Medical Assistant (MA). BAAO has been active in the Rheumatology community for 23 years with 25+ employees that includes 1 MD, 3 PAs, 1 ARNP, 2 RNs, and a full-time registered pharmacist (RPH) to help in the research department. BAAO uses state of the art electronic health records (EHR,the practice is using eCW), onsite high complexity labs, digital X-rays, digital bone density scans (DEXA), onsite phlebotomy services, ultrasound machines, -20 F and -80 F freezers, ECG machines, and a 7-chair infusion suite to meet the needs of various trials. BAAO is a 4500 SF facility and has an additional 3500 SF expansion planned in the future to give total of an 8000 SF facility. BAAO is an outpatient only facility, no inpatient or hospital work is required. BAAO is only open 4 days a week (Mon-Thur) giving a 3-day weekend to balance family life . Electronic Health records (EHR) proficiency is a mandatory requirement . health insurance + dental + vision; an excellent 401K + profit sharing plans + cash balance plans ( total 3 retirement plans, totaling about 14% of salary ); Role Description The Certified Medical Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position located in Brandon, FL. This role involves supporting providers with direct patient care, including rooming patients, taking vital signs, documenting histories, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures. The Medical Assistant will manage clinical workflows such as administering injections as permitted by certification, assisting with infusions or diagnostic tests, and ensuring exam rooms and equipment are clean, stocked, and ready for use. Daily responsibilities include updating and maintaining medical records, processing referrals, coordinating lab work and imaging, and assisting with prescription refills and prior authorizations. The role also involves communicating with patients in person and by phone, reinforcing provider instructions, and promoting a positive, respectful patient experience. Clinical care skills in Medical Assisting and Patient Care, with the ability to support examinations, procedures, and treatments safely and efficiently. Knowledge of Medical Terminology relevant to arthritis, osteoporosis, and general rheumatology practice. Experience working in a Medical Office setting, including scheduling support, phone communication, and coordination with other healthcare professionals. Proficiency in managing Medical Records, including accurate documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems and adherence to privacy regulations. Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) and compliance with applicable state requirements. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and interact respectfully with diverse patient populations. Basic computer and data entry skills, with the ability to learn clinical software and EHR systems quickly. Experience in rheumatology, osteoporosis, or other specialty practices is preferred but not required.
