Locum - Neonatology / NICU (Level III) - New York

Open Dates:

Seeking ongoing weekend coverage - 12 and/or 24-hour shifts

Practice Setting:

NICU Level III

Reason for Coverage:

LOA; loss/decrease in current staff time

Shift Details:

Reliable weekend coverage; 12- or 24-hour shifts

Group Composition:

Neonatologists: 3 full-time (no additional coverage during locum assignment)

Pediatricians: Only pediatricians are current neonatologists

Pediatric Mid-Levels: 6 plus 1 per diem

Supervision Responsibilities:

Yes - RNs in NICU and other ancillary staff as needed (no NNP supervision)

Support Staff:

Neonatologist present during the day; on-call available 24 hours otherwise

Unit Information:

16-bed NICU Level III

Number of Exam Rooms: 16-bed unit

Average Admissions Per Shift: 0-2

Average Daily Census: 8-9

Well-Baby Coverage: Yes (only during night shift)

C-Sections:

Locum required to attend C-sections

Transfers:

No transport requirement; Level IV NICU nearby manages all transports

Documentation System / EMR:

Epic

Travel:

Facility reimburses for flight, hotel, and rental car

Neonatal Procedures Required

Nursery Level III / NICU care

Ventilation Management - invasive (ETT) and non-invasive (BiPAP/CPAP)

Chest Tube Insertion

Exchange Transfusions

UAC/UVC Placement

Lumbar Punctures

Evaluation & Management of Acute Volume/BP Issues

Insertion of Central Line

Insertion of Arterial Line

Diagnostic / Therapeutic Taps

Submission Requirements:

Board Certified - Neonatology / experienced NICU PA - Required

Active NY License - Required

Must have experience and be comfortable managing patients independently - Required
