Discover your opportunities at Yale!OverviewThe Assistant Director for Loans & Outside Aid serves under the Associate Director of University Financial Aid and leads key operational and policy oversight for federal & alternative loan funding, as well as outside grants and scholarships across the university. The ADLOA (at applicable schools) manages federal loan processing end-to-end, including eligibility, origination, certification, disbursement, error resolution, and borrower requirements. This position will provide comprehensive and quality financial aid administration and counseling related to federal & alternative loans, as well as outside grants, scholarships, and related aid to all of Yale’s schools and financial aid offices. The ADLOA will complete all private loan certifications in addition to reviewing and updating all quality controls and disbursement practices related to loans and outside aid. Will run and review quality control reports on Title IV loan disbursements and other aid as needed. Performs R2T4’s for graduate/professional schools, as well as identity verifications as needed. Will manage ELM processing and perform necessary updates to Yale’s ELM site and Preferred Lender List. The ADLOA will receive and process institutional loans, make annual updates to loan request forms, and TILA documents. Will perform NSLDS eligibility reviews and verify Legacy OB3 status when applicable. The ADLOA serves as the MPN, Entrance & Exit Loan Counseling contact for schools, and work with lenders to update student contact information for delinquent borrowers when necessary. Required Skills and Abilities1.Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as provide insightful guidance and support for decentralized counterparts. Strong ability to identify opportunities to improve existing programs and processes and to develop new ones.2.Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work productively with the school's internal stakeholders.3.Experience with administering Title IV and other federal and state financial aid programs, as well as alternative loan certification and outside aid processing4.Must have a strong ability to understand and engage with new systems and technologies, with a preference for candidates with Argos and Banner experience. 5.Must have a demonstrated capability for finding, interpreting, and communicating federal and state guidance.Preferred Skills and AbilitiesMaster’s Degree and/or successive growth of responsibility within the financial aid officePrincipal Responsibilities1. Directs, monitors, and assesses needs and directs the application of resources of an administrative University office dealing with one or more major functional areas. 2. Directs and implements solutions to problems that are routine to complex in nature and that affect multiple functional areas of responsibility. 3. Plans and/or participates in planning University activities on a long-term basis to comply with University goals and objectives. 4. Establishes and implements consistent university-wide policies in multiple functional areas of responsibility. 5. Ensures that University office policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. 6. Develops and monitors goals and objectives for managerial and professional staff in compliance with University strategies. 7. Directs a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.
