Vice President of Advancement

General Function and Description The Vice President of Advancement is responsible for managing the performance of resource development with a focus on KPI’s and accountability, while managing our largest Corporate Partnerships and implementing our Largest Fundraising Event - Youth of the Year Gala. Areas of responsibility include securing funding for the organization by overseeing special event fundraising events,, corporate engagement, and campaign activities; supporting individual giving programs; creating a culture of philanthropy; and supervising staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS And RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee Fundraising Activities Manage Fundraising Activities. Manage Fundraising budget. Oversee special event fundraising event, Lead largest fundraising event - Youth of the Year Gala Oversee and lead corporate engagement Manage Corporate giving - especially large accounts Oversee individual giving Individual Giving Support Individual Strategies across the team. Focus efforts on donor conversion strategies. Foundation Support Large Foundation Relationships Leadership Competent and credible leader others choose to follow. Define vision clearly and how to get there. Execute strategy and consistently achieve results. Coach team to improve performance, solve problems, and grow careers. Work with leadership and management to assist in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters. Pipeline Management and Team KPI Accountability Campaign Management Manage 3 direct reports - Manager of Special Events & Communications, and 2 Directors of Development Administrative Compliance Complete all required reports and administrative duties on time. Collect and manage required data and internal and external reporting. Ensure accuracy of data and reporting. Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes, and controls Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry Accountable for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively Prepare Board fundraising reports Data Analysis and Strategy Development Facility & Child Safety Accountable for safety in the assigned area Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect members, staff equipment, materials, and facilities. Accountable for reporting incidents and completing documentation within the required timeline. Relationships Be a positive role model Maintain emotional control and make good decisions under pressure Represent the Boys & Girls Club in a positive manner Attendance Regular attendance is required; arrive on time, work required hours/shift, and leave at scheduled time Nonessential Duties Complete all other duties as assigned Requirements Education and Work Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent professional experience; advanced degree and/or certifications preferred Minimum of 8+ years of Fundraising or sales experience required Management Experience preferred Minimum Qualifications Requirements Ability to work regular business hours with evenings, nights, and weekends as needed to provide oversight to attend events and address urgent matters. Ability to identify, create and offer ongoing support to employees through training, encouragement and reinforcement in order to breed success and support a positive growth culture. Ability to lead and motivate the work of a diverse, decentralized group of individuals, including volunteers and professionals in fundraising or sales activities that produce sustained and improved results over time. Ability to plan, lead, and shape organizational change and growth resulting in tangible progress towards stated operational and strategic goals. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and knowledgeably in both the written and spoken word. Must have sound knowledge of English composition, spelling, business correspondence and writing skills and must have ability to maintain effective relationships with youth, staff, Board of Directors, parents, volunteers, and the public. Demonstrated success managing relationships with varied community stakeholders. Demonstrated success working collaboratively with internal and external teams, and sharing information in an open and transparent fashion, addressing conflicts constructively. Must have a working knowledge of creating budgets and managing expenses. Must have a working knowledge of fundraising or sales practices and philosophies. Must have experience in meeting and adapting to laws and regulations including internal policies and procedures. Includes considerable past experience training, managing and disciplining employees as needed to enforce policies and procedures. Must have the ability to manage employee related situations with the highest degree of work maturity and professionalism possible. Must be able to pass any and all required background screens and drug screens at any time Must have satisfactory driving record, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties Preferred Qualifications Ability to create and implement integrated marketing and communication programs to meet strategic organization goals. Ability to directly manage a personal portfolio of 50 to 100 donors and meet personal fundraising targets of seven figures. Advanced ability to set and meet goals and to supervise staff directly and indirectly, with an emphasis in performance-based management and tactics such as employee coaching and guidance and performance reviews. Demonstrated past success in collaborating with fundraising teams to implement programs and projects to meet and surpass donor and funding entity expectations. Computer proficiency in Google Suite and experience with fundraising software. Experience with Sales Force or Raiser’s Edge preferred. Demonstrated past success managing and/or overseeing successful special event fundraising events Demonstrated understanding or sensitivity to the educational and psychological issues affecting disadvantaged youth and have displayed a belief, understanding, and commitment to the Boys & Girls Clubs philosophy. Past success with competitive written RFP processes. Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club) is an advantage Physical demands and work environment: Physical demands: The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following demands: must be able to remain in stationary position frequently; occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, attend meetings and the like; frequently move about the community to complete job duties; frequently operate a computer and other office equipment such as a copy machine, printer and the like; frequently communicates with staff, partners, and community to conduct regular business operations; seldom move boxes or other items weighing up to 50 pounds; daily operation and use of database, software and computer applications required for business functions; occasional to frequent operation of a personal motor vehicle relevant to carrying out job duties required for the position; frequently spend time in intense concentration reviewing and entering information into computer; ability to work for prolonged periods at high levels of activity, managing multiple tasks with varying deadlines and attending to details; ability to understand opposing view on complex issues and to negotiate and integrate different viewpoints; ability to organize and prioritize work schedules of others on a long term basis; ability to make decisions which have significant impact on the department and organization credibility, operations, and services; ability to communicate with individuals utilizing a telephone, computer or other electronic device; requires ability to hear and speak effectively on phone and to use a computer or other electronic device; ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word, communicating orally with others accurately, loudly, and quickly; ability to formulate complex and comprehensive materials such as authoritative reports, official publications of major scope and impact, etc., and/or to make formal presentations; and ability to compute, analyze, and interpret complex statistical data and/or to develop forecasts Work environment: This job is performed in a normal office environment and out in the community. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and at times loud. Worksites are located in low-income areas and challenging neighborhoods. The position requires regular work hours that mirror regular business hours. The position requires evenings and weekends as needed to supervise and respond to organizational needs and requirements, including meetings, phone calls, texts, and emails as needed. The position is required to carry and utilize a mobile device. Seldom travel outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.
