Pharmacy - Retail Pharmacist

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a PHARM for a temporary assignment in Alturas, California. These positions are 8-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Location: Alturas, California

Schedule: 8:00AM - 5:00PM x 5

Term: 8-week assignment with the potential for extension

Pay Rate: $68 - $74/hr

Responsibilities for a PHARM:

Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications, drugs and other pharmaceuticals for patient care

Reviews prescriptions issued by Physician or other authorized prescriber to ensure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed

Directs pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals

Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals if counseling offer is accepted

Actively engages patients and clients with respect to customer service programs and program integrations offered by the pharmacy

Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances and disposal of hazardous waste drugs

Enters data such as patient name, prescribed medication and cost to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory

Instructs interns and other pharmacy personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy and maintains correct pharmacist to technician and pharmacist to intern ratios per state/federal law

Maintains awareness of third party Rx systems and resolves third party rejection problems promptly

Reports prescription errors immediately and adheres to company policy regarding medication incidents

Maintains awareness of loss prevention controls and procedures to identify and minimize profit loss

Develops and maintains a good working relationship with physicians and other health care professionals

Pursues training and development opportunities; keeps abreast of new items, changing laws, regulations, and new pharmacy-related programs through continuing education and reviewing pharmacy-related literature

Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; maintains confidentiality

Maximizes sales and controls expenses in the retail pharmacy

Ensures currency and consistency of pharmacy policies

Communicates changes effectively and deals with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events

Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; ensures daily housekeeping, cleanliness, and sanitation program as established within company guidelines

Demonstrates professional behavior and maintains a positive working relationship with patients, visitors, and staff

Performs all assigned tasks accurately and produces deliverable products on time with minimal direction

Other duties may be assigned, which may include technician-related duties depending on available staff
