Clinical Supervisor

Department Overview The Office of Field Experiences creates, promotes, and supports mutually beneficial clinical partnerships between the College of Education and P‑12 school districts so that teacher candidates engage in high‑quality clinical experiences, clinical educators grow as mentors, and they collaborate in teaching and learning, professional development, and reflection to positively impact P‑12 student learning and larger communities. Duties and Responsibilities Attend orientation programs for each teacher candidate and meet with assigned candidates. Attend clinical supervisors’ meetings at the beginning and end of each semester. Contact cooperating teachers, introduce yourself, arrange a “Hello” visit, and introduce yourself to the principal on the first visit. Conduct formal observations, record observations, and document evidence in Chalk and Wire. Review and provide feedback on lesson plan schedules, weekly journal submissions, and assessment forms. Conduct pre‑ and post‑observation conferences with the student teacher, mentor, and cooperating teacher. Inform the Office of Field Experiences of any candidate difficulties and complete a Clinical Intern Action Plan. Work with the cooperating teacher, principal, and teacher candidate on interventions. Prepare travel expense vouchers and complete required surveys for program improvement. Notify the OFE office if unavailable to serve as a supervisor for the next semester. Type of Clinical Work All clinical work involves conducting formal observations and related documentation as outlined above. Minimum Number of Formal Observations Clinical Experience (practicum): 2 Formal Observations Clinical Practice I: 4 Formal Observations Clinical Practice II: 7 Formal Observations P‑3 Alternate Route: 4 Formal Observations ESL Alternate Route: 4 Formal Observations TSD‑E Clinical: 2 Formal Observations LDT‑C Clinical: 3 Formal Observations Qualifications Required Qualifications New Jersey Department of Education permanent teaching certification. Minimum of five (5) years experience in the area(s) of certification. Master’s degree. Preferred Qualifications Administrative certification – supervisory experience preferred. Adjuncts per Credit Rate New employees – $1,975 per credit. Employees with 13+ semesters at WP – $2,050 per credit.
