Bus Aide

Job Title

Job Goal

To assist in providing safe transportation of students to and from designated locations.

Performance Responsibilities

1. To assist driver in operation of lifts for wheelchairs and assisting disabled students.
2. To maintain positive student conduct on the bus.
3. To secure special equipment that may accompany the student.
4. To alert to any conditions in the loading and unloading area of concern.
5. To communicate in an appropriate fashion with students, parents, and employees.
6. To assist regular driver in cleaning the bus.
7. To maintain discipline of students being transported.
8. To establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive environment.
9. To exhibit positive image as a loyal representative of the school district.
10. To maintain a neat and clean professional appearance.
11. To complete all paper work required by the school district.
12. To attend all in-service days required by the school district.
13. To perform other duties as required.

Physical Demands

In addition to successfully passing the South Carolina Department of Education Physical Performance test, drivers are also expected to be able to assist, move, push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Be physically able to withstand prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, walking, reaching, and repetitive movements.

Terms of Employment

BD2 FMSD Salary Schedule, 180 contract days per year. Non-exempt. Salary placement based upon experience and education based on district formula.

Evaluation

Performance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation on non-certified personnel.
