The work setting at Abundance Counseling Center is a hybrid model, allowing for a remote arrangement while maintaining strong connections within our outpatient team. Our work hours are Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts based on patient needs. This flexibility ensures that our therapists can effectively manage their schedules while addressing the mental health needs of our elderly clientele.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments to identify the unique challenges faced by older adults, focusing on their psychological, social, and cognitive needs.

• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that consider the complexity of both cognitive and physical health changes.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, to conduct individual and family sessions aimed at alleviating symptoms of geriatric psychiatric disorders.

• Collaborate closely with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to create an integrated treatment approach for complex cases.

• Provide crisis intervention and compassionate support during mental health emergencies, ensuring that elderly patients feel safe and secure.

• Educate patients and their families about mental health issues, treatment methodologies, and available resources within the community.

• Maintain meticulous and confidential client records, adhering to legal and ethical standards of documentation.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be on the geriatric population, addressing mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, dementia-related disorders, and adjustment issues faced by older adults. By understanding the diverse experiences of this age group, you will tailor your approach to meet their specific needs, enhancing their overall mental wellness.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT within the state of Georgia.

• Strong knowledge and understanding of geriatric mental health issues and evidence-based therapeutic practices.

• Demonstrated proficiency in providing individual and family therapy aimed at older adults.
\n
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on empathetic, patient-centered care.

• Capacity to build trust and rapport with elderly patients and their caregivers.

• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and various therapeutic software applications.

Preferred Experience\n

• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in mental health therapy is strongly preferred.

Compensation and Benefits\n
