Under the general direction of an Attorney Supervisor or a Senior Assistant Inspector General, the Attorney IV will independently assess, review, and report on the most difficult and sensitive internal investigations and the litigation of employee disciplinary actions that occur within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). The incumbent will monitor the performance of CDCR’s Office of Internal Affairs investigators, Employment Advocacy and Prosecution Team (EAPT) attorneys, and hiring authorities to ensure the appropriateness of CDCR’s policies, practices, and disciplinary systems. The OIG is dedicated to being an agency that promotes a positive work environment where employees feel valued, is family friendly, allows for true work-life balance, and ensures opportunities for employee growth. Telework eligibility is pursuant to Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. The Office of the Inspector General intends to fully comply with Executive Order N-22-25, requiring employees to report to an OIG office location or field location at least four days per week. Additional on-site days may be required based on departmental policies and operational needs. The designated Headquarters (HQ) for this position is in Rancho Cucamonga, and the selected candidate will be required to commute to their HQ office location as needed to meet operational needs. All commute expenses to the HQ location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate. Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced by 4.62% and will accrue 8 hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period. PLP 2025 for this classification is expected to be effective through October 2026. You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement. Minimum Requirements ATTORNEY IV The Office of the Inspector General safeguards the integrity of the State’s correctional system by providing oversight and transparency through monitoring, reporting, and recommending improvements to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The Office of the Inspector General is excluded from bargaining unit contracts. The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired. The position(s) require(s) a(n) CA State BAR License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.
