A confidential AM Law 200 law firm is seeking a senior Labor and Employment attorney to join its Chicago practice on a hybrid basis. This is a defense-side, litigation-focused opportunity with room to pair high-stakes employment disputes with day-to-day counseling for sophisticated employer clients.

THE ROLE

• Defend employers in a broad range of Labor and Employment disputes, including discrimination and retaliation claims

• Handle wage and hour matters, including class and collective action components where applicable

• Advise on restrictive covenants and related disputes

• Support traditional labor matters and proceedings as needed

• Drive core litigation tasks including pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, and hearing preparation

• Provide practical counseling to management and HR stakeholders in parallel with active litigation

LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

Location:

Chicago, Illinois

Schedule:

Hybrid, in office 3 days per week

Compensation:

Base salary range: $170,000 to $190,000

REQUIREMENTS

• 10 or more years of Labor and Employment experience, including litigation and counseling

• Defense-side experience across restrictive covenants, discrimination defense, wage and hour, and traditional labor matters

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

• Active Illinois bar admission in good standing

• Comfort working toward approximately 1,900 billable hours annually

• Strong legal writing, motion practice, and case management skills

• Consistent and stable professional experience aligned with a senior-level practice

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

• Prior experience in a large law firm or sophisticated litigation practice environment

• Experience with class and collective actions, NLRB matters, and executive employment agreements

• Interest in collaborating across offices on multi-jurisdictional client matters

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Annual billable expectation: approximately 1,900 hours
