Assistant Manager

As an Assistant Manager at SONIC Drive‑In you will assist the General Manager in managing restaurant operations, training staff and ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient dining experience for every guest. Responsibilities Manage, train, monitor and coach Team/Crew members, carhops, and skating carhops. Direct and assign drive‑in restaurant employees to meet operational standards. Enforce the drive‑in restaurant employee handbook, policies and practices. Perform opening and closing duties for the restaurant. Adjust staffing levels, inventory levels and food cost controls as needed. Complete weekly inventory as required. Assist with administrative duties, including maintaining files, records and necessary documentation. Maintain a customer‑service mentality and ensure employees focus on serving guests at all times. Respond promptly and respectfully to guest requests, report complaints to the supervisor, and help resolve issues. Requirements Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays. General knowledge and understanding of the restaurant or retail industry. Minimum of six months of restaurant management experience (QSR) or one year of entry‑level retail management experience, with proven ability to run shifts independently. Effective communication, basic math, reading and computer skills. Ability to follow directions, work autonomously once given guidance, multi‑task, and solve problems. Willingness to comply with SONIC’s appearance, uniform and hygiene standards. Additional Qualifications Friendly demeanor and enjoyment of providing courteous food service to guests. Professional respect for others and value for teamwork. Team‑player attitude with a willingness to meet and exceed drive‑in goals. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members. Track record of building sales, creative marketing, expense management and developing successful teams.
