The DOT Switchboard Agent is the first line of contact with the DOT customer base. Switchboard Operator Duties And Responsibilities Answer Incoming Calls Switchboard operators answer incoming calls and redirect calls to the appropriate DOT department, using the Switchboard Directory and other DOT resources Research the DOT intranet and/or internet to assist with providing the caller with information Clerical Tasks Record calls daily in spreadsheet Research, collect, and verify Switchboard Directory information for customers and DOT personnel Maintain the Switchboard Directory to ensure accuracy of phone numbers, email addresses or websites Train new staff Qualifications Required Experience High school diploma and 2 years of working experience required Must have 1 year of experience providing customer service support in a business organization Excellent phone skills Top-notch communication and listening skills Basic computer proficiency Experience in a customer service role (preferred) Must possess a High School Diploma Degree may be substituted with 2 additional years of related experience Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance U.S. citizenship required Target salary range Up to $40,000.
