This entry-level role supports the construction manager of a roofing contractor by assisting with day-to-day operations in both office and field environments. The Assistant Construction Supervisor learns all aspects of the construction business while providing administrative, project coordination, and on-site support. This position is ideal for someone who wants broad exposure to construction management, enjoys a mix of office and field work, and is looking for a long-term career path in the industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist the construction manager with daily operations for roofing and construction projects.
• Support the manager by answering emails, taking phone calls, and responding promptly to customer and contractor inquiries.
• Prepare and provide accurate quotes and estimates for roofing and construction projects.
• Draft, edit, and organize contracts and related project documentation.
• Travel with the construction manager to job sites across the region to observe and support project activities.
• Meet with customers and contractors on-site to support project coordination and communication.
• Take clear, detailed photographs of job sites for surveys, documentation, and project records.
• Create and maintain project-related documents, logs, and reports using Microsoft Office tools, including Excel.
• Assist with project coordination tasks such as scheduling, tracking progress, and organizing materials and information.
• Support basic data entry for project management systems, including Procore or similar platforms.
• Help oversee on-site activities under the guidance of the construction manager to ensure work aligns with project plans.
• Use basic supervisory skills to support field operations when directed by the construction manager.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth project execution.
• Maintain organized digital and physical files for contracts, estimates, photos, and project records.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Comfort making and receiving professional phone calls with customers, contractors, and vendors.
• Strong interest in construction management and willingness to learn roofing and construction operations.
• Ability to assist with on-site supervision under the direction of the construction manager.
• Basic understanding of construction or project coordination concepts, especially in roofing or concrete, or a strong desire to learn.
• Ability to perform accurate data entry and maintain organized records.
• Strong communication skills for both written correspondence and in-person interactions.
• Ability to travel regularly to job sites and work a variable schedule based on project needs.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic in both office and field settings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Procore or similar construction management software.
• Exposure to construction management, roofing, or concrete work through prior roles, internships, or hands-on experience.
• Basic project management or project coordination experience.
• Familiarity with drafting contracts or working with contract documents.
• Experience working with routers, tools, or other construction-related equipment.
• Supervisory skills or experience overseeing tasks or small teams in any environment.
• Interest in building a long-term career in construction, project management, or estimating.
• Comfort working in both office and field environments and adapting to changing priorities.

Work Environment

The role combines office-based work with regular visits to active construction and roofing job sites. You will spend time in a standard office setting handling emails, calls, documentation, and project coordination, and you will also travel frequently throughout North Florida with the construction manager to inspect sites, meet customers, and support field operations. Typical workdays run from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 or 6:00 p.m., with some days starting as early as 5:00 a.m. at the shop and ending around 8:00 p.m. when traveling to job sites. The position involves working around typical construction conditions, including outdoor environments, varying weather, and active job sites, while using tools such as Microsoft Office, Procore, and other construction-related equipment as needed. Attire should be appropriate for both office work and field visits, ensuring safety and professionalism on site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake City, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
